ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Husson University softball team beat SUNY Cobleskill 8-0 in six innings to earn its seventh-straight North Atlantic Conference Championship on Sunday in Oneonta, New York hosted by SUNY Cobleskill.
Husson (27-10) got on the board with a run in the first inning, graduate student
Julia Gregoire singled to right field, scoring senior
Bulla McCabe for the eventual winning run.
Following a scoreless second inning, McCabe added to the Eagles advantage with an RBI single to right field, scoring senior
Kiara McLeod for a 2-0 edge.
Cobleskill (22-12) put runners on in the top half of the fifth, but sophomore
Ana Lang who got the start in the circle recorded a strikeout and got a lineout to keep the game scoreless.
McLeod carried that momentum into the bottom half of the firth, connecting on a two-run homerun to put Husson up 4-0.
The Fighting Tigers threatened again in the sixth, putting runners on second and third with one out, but Lang struck out the next two batters to keep the deficit at 4-0.
In the sixth, the Eagles came away with the 8-0 walkup win by run rule, sophomore
Lyndsee Reed singled in a run to put the lead at 6-0 and sophomore
Camryn King doubled in two runs to end the game and give Husson its seventh-straight NAC title.
Lang dominated in the circle, allowing only four hits and striking out 13 batters, while McLeod tallied two hits along with Gregoire.
Husson finished the game with 11 hits, all players in the Eagles lineup recorded a hit.

Husson will now find out its next opponent in the NCAA DIII softball championship on Monday at 11 a.m. during the annual selection show.
