WATERVILLE, Maine — Husson University women's lacrosse senior's
Natalie Whitten and
Jordyn Lengle each posted hat tricks in the Eagles 13-3 North Atlantic Conference-road win over Thomas College on Wednesday evening.
Husson (4-5, 3-1 NAC) took an early 1-0 lead in Wednesday conference bout, Whitten score the first of her three goals at the 11:16 mark in the opening quarter.
However, Thomas (1-6, 0-2 NAC) tied the match 1-1 with a goal at the 6:25 mark before senior
Maddy Benoit scored with :01 second remaining in the first from Lengle to give the Eagles a 2-1 edge.
After a scoreless opening five minutes in the second quarter, the Terriers tied the game again at 2-2, but junior
Gracie Gardner put Husson back up 3-2, while junior
Averi Baker scored the eventual game-winning goal from Whitten to run the lead to 4-2 heading in to the half.
The Terriers cut into the Eagles 4-2 advantage with a goal to begin the third quarter, but Husson ended the third quarter on a 7-0 scoring run to take a commanding 11-3 advantage.
Lengle started the run with another assist from Whitten, while Whitten added an unassisted score, followed by another Lengle goal.
Whitten added another assist, aiding Baker's second goal of the game, while junior
Laela Martinez scored from freshman
Kate Boehmcke, followed by a goal from Gardner from Whitten and another by Martinez to end the quarter.
The Eagles added two more goals in the fourth, the first from Whitten and the second from Lengle off another Boehmcke assist to come away with the 13-3 decision.
Whitten finished the night with three goals and four assists, while Lengle added three goals and an assist. Additionally, Gardner, Martinez and Baker all recorded multi-goal games.
Baker and Whitten finished with a team-high four ground balls, while Martinez and and Boehmcke added three draw controls each.

Montanna Carrier each finished with three caused turnovers finishing with 15 as a team for the game.
Next up for the Eagles is a home matchup against the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
