NEW HAVEN, Fla. — The Husson University softball team returned to the diamond on Monday improving to .500 with a 4-1 win over Swarthmore College and a 5-3 victory over Nichols College.
Husson (4-4) came into the day struggling at the plate and needing to stay in the win column.
The Eagles wasted little time, getting on the board in the first inning on an RBI single off the bat of senior
Bulla McCabe that drove in sophomore

Morgan Curtis doubled in another run in the second, scoring senior
Tori Exel for a 2-0 advantage.
Husson extended its lead to 4-0 with two insurance runs in the fifth inning, senior
Kiara McLeod single up the middle, scoring King for the second time in the game and graduate student
Julia Gregoire continued her impressive spring-break trip with an RBI single up the middle that scored sophomore
Ella Hosford who entered as a pinch runner.
Swarthmore, (2-5) managed to sneak a run across in the sixth, but graduate student
Sky Johnson dominated in the circle, allowing just five hits over seven innings, one run and striking out six batters.
Johnson faced 26 batters in the matchup, forcing 10 ground outs as the Eagles defense stood tall.
King and Gregoire finished with two hits each, while King added two stolen bases.
In the doubleheader final, Husson picked up another win, giving Nichols (2-1) its first loss on the Spring.
King scored on a Bison miscue in the first for an early 1-0 lead and Exel single to right field scoring senior
Tatyanna Biamby for a 2-0 advantage.
Nichols cut into the lead 2-1 with a run in the second, but the Eagles answered in the third with two runs, McCable doubled to left scoring Biamby for her second run and junior
Tayler Watterson singled to drive in junior Payson Kayler.
Husson added an insurance run in the fifth on another RBI single from Gregoire to extend its lead to 5-1.
Nichols cut into the deficit with a run in the fifth and another in the seventh, but sophomore
Ana Lang impressed in the circle, picking up the win while allowing only six hits in seven innings and striking out four.
Biamby, McCabe and Exel each finished with two hits each, while McCabe added a double and triple.
Next up for the Eagles are back-to-back matchups with regional powerhouses the University of Mount Union and No. 18 Calvin University on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
