BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign on Sunday afternoon at Newman Gymnasium, falling 3–1 to SUNY Delhi in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals.
The Broncos (7-23) jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, using a quick 4–0 start to build momentum before Husson (9-17) settled in. Sophomore Mikayla Gray and junior Janna Preskorn combined for key kills midway through the set to trim the deficit to three, but Delhi closed strong to take the first frame, 25–20.
Set two proved to be a back-and-forth battle, featuring four ties and three lead changes. The Eagles found their rhythm behind a steady run from freshman Peyton Hooker, who connected with graduate student Julia Leavitt for back-to-back kills and later added a pair of service aces to give Husson a 21–19 lead. The Broncos, however, rallied in the closing points with consecutive kills to edge out a narrow 26–24 win and take a 2–0 match lead.
Husson stormed back in the third set with its most dominant stretch of the day, jumping out to an 8–2 advantage thanks to a strong serving run from Preskorn that included three aces. The Eagles' front line took over from there, as Leavitt, Gray, and freshman Kate McPhee combined for nine kills in the frame to power a convincing 25–12 victory and extend the match.
In the fourth, the teams traded points early before Delhi pulled away with a 6–1 spurt midway through the set. Junior Alana Peruti and freshman Daley Foss each contributed kills late, but the Broncos maintained control to close the match, 25–16, and secure the 3–1 decision.
Leavitt led the Eagles with 12 kills, while Gray added 10 kills and 9 digs in a balanced effort. Preskorn filled the stat sheet with 8 kills, 8 assists, 5 service aces, and 8 digs, and Hooker dished out 17 assists while tallying 11 digs. Sophomore Amanda Mei Morse led the back row with 15 digs, and Foss and Peruti combined for five total blocks.
As a team, Husson finished with 37 kills, 10 service aces, and 7 total blocks, while hitting .054 on the afternoon.
With the loss, the 2025 season has come to an end for the Husson women's volleyball team.
