PORTLAND, Maine – The Husson University women's tennis team advanced to the North Atlantic Conference championship on Saturday afternoon, earning a 4-1 victory over Thomas College in the semifinals at Apex Racket and Fitness in Portland.
The Eagles (9-2) opened strong in doubles competition, taking two of the three matches to grab the early point. The No. 1 duo of senior Julia Barber and senior Joey Lynn Ramsdell earned a convincing win, while freshmen Katelyn Cotter and Sadie May came through at the No. 3 spot with a clutch performance to secure the point for Husson.
Barber picked up a win in No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win, while Ramsdell earned a hard-fought three set win by a final of 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 and sophomore Anah Albert prevailed from the No. 4 spot with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win.
Despite Thomas (8-6) taking the No. 3 singles match, Husson had already done enough to move on in the conference tournament.
The Eagles will look to capture their first conference title since 2022 when they take on top-seeded Simmons University at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
