BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball program received its seventh commitment for the incoming recruiting class. Mazie Peach, a 6-2 post player from Dexter Regional High School has committed to attending Husson in the Fall of 2024.
"I couldn't be happier for Mazie, the last two seasons she was able to accomplish a tremendous amount, both in team success and individually," said head Dexter HS coach Jody Grant. "Her hard work to come back from surgery as a sophomore and her dedication has certainly paid off."
Mazie has basically played two years of high school basketball, in that short time she was selected to the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) third team and the Bangor Daily News All-Tournament team her junior year. This past season, Mazie averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots a game. The Dexter Tigers won the Maine Class C State Championship, Mazie was named (PVC) Player of the Year, first team all-conference and again was the Bangor Daily News Most Valuable player. She was also a McDonald's All-Star and a Miss Maine Basketball Semifinalist.
"Mazie still has so much room to grow as a player and at 6-2 with a lot of potential ahead of her, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to coach her at Husson," said head women's basketball coach Kissy Walker.
Mazie played AAU for the Maine Sting and coach Lexie Mcinnis. She is a four-sport athlete participating in field hockey, soccer, basketball and softball. Outside of sports, Mazie is a member of the key club and student government, global discussions. Mazie also rides horses competitively competing in eventing.
Mazie is the younger sister of former Eagle, Megan Peach who had an impressive career at Husson. Mazie says," Megan was a big influence on her and the main reason why she loves basketball so much!"
Mazie plans to study Nursing at Husson.
