WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference released its preseason polls results for softball on Wednesday and the Husson University softball team was chosen to finish in first-place in the East Division.
Husson, who is seeking a four-peat in the NAC, claimed 47 points in the polls, including six out of the seven first-place votes in the East.
Newcomer to the NAC, Eastern Nazarene, was slotted in the No. 2 spot with 38 total points, followed by Thomas College with 37 points and the remaining first-place vote.
Vermont State University Lyndon finished fourth in the poll, tallying 22 points, with the University of Maine-Presque Isle and the University of Maine at Farmington tying for fifth place with 21 total points, followed by Lesley University, who tallied 10 points.
In the West, SUNY Poly was voted as the best team in the division, racking up 35 points and five out of six first-place votes. SUNY Cobleskill placed second in this year's poll with 31 total points, in addition?? to the final first place vote.
Three more New York schools placed third, fourth and fifth respectively, as SUNY Delhi totaled 22 points, SUNY Morrisville posted 17 and SUNY Canton recorded 13, with Vermont State University Johnson rounding-out the field with eight points.
The Eagles will begin their quest for a fourth-straight NCAA Tournament bid on Saturday when they battle Bethany Lutheran College at 9 a.m. in Clermont, Fla.
