BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's basketball team finished the 2023-2024 regular season in a dominant 103-52 senior day win over Lesley University in Newman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
In a game that saw only one early lead change, Husson (20-5, 11-3 NAC) controlled the contest over Lesley (4-21, 2-12 NAC) from the opening tip-off, led by another good game from senior guard Jeremy Moronta. The Eagles shot the ball at an efficient rate in the first half, shooting 58% from the field and 42% from behind the 3-point arc.
The Eagles' hot shooting continued in the second half as the team finished the game with marks of 52% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc. Husson finished the game with 42 points in the paint, compared to Lesley's 20, 30 points off turnovers and 24 second-chance points.
Husson's pregame honored seniors Jared Balser, Derek Collin, Luke Caruso and Scott Lewis. All playing notable minutes in the game, Lewis led with 14 points and six rebounds and Caruso followed suit by posting 13 points of his own, as well as three steals, three rebounds and three assists.
Moronta ended the regular-season finale with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, posting another well-balanced effort for the Eagles.
Husson turns its attention to the North Atlantic Conference East Division Quarterfinals next Friday. The Eagles East Division standing and quarterfinal matchup will be determined after the conclusion of Thomas College and Maine Maritime Academy's game on Monday.
