McCauley drops game-high 17 in season-opening home loss to Lasell

BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University men's basketball team tipped off its 2024-25 season at home on Friday evening falling to Lasell University 60-56.

Husson (0-1) and Lasell (1-0) battled each other throughout the night, trading points through the first eight minutes before the Eagles opened up a nine-point advantage with 10:15 remaining in the opening half.

The Lasers pulled within one point of Husson at the 7:04 mark and again with :14 second remaining, but two end-of-the-half three throws from Riles Neff gave the Eagles a slight 32-29 advantage heading into the half.

Lasell managed to tie the game at the 13:01 mark in the second half, but Husson would regain the lead until the Lasers pulled even again with 9:46 remaining. Lasell took its first lead since the opening minutes of the first half at the 7:13 mark, but Husson would regain the advantage and hold the lead until 2:36 remaining.

However, Lasell fended off the Eagles over the final two-plus minutes to come away with the hard-fought 60-56 decision.

Sophomore Andre McCauley finished with a game-high 17 points for the Eagles, while Neff added eight points and junior Ty Henke recorded six. Junior Eric Ahlers pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, followed by graduate student Scott Lewis who finished with seven.

Neff dished out four assists and posted two steals, while McCauley recorded three assists and three steals.
