BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team was clicking on all cylinders on Wednesday, scoring 39 points in the second half to edge Colby College 67-64 at home in non-conference action.
Husson (8-8) scored 21 of its 67 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Mules 21-14 in the quarter and cutting into the Colby lead.
Colby (9-7) carried a 35-28 advantage into the break, but Husson evened the game at the conclusion of the third quarter and continue its momentum into the fourth quarter.
During the deciding quarter, Colby and Husson would trade leads through the final 10 minutes, but Husson came up clutch lead as junior
Roxanne Sasse drained a 3-pointer with :41 seconds remaining to give Husson a 64-61 edge.
Junior
Hannah Richards hit three vital free throws over the final 20 seconds of play to allow Husson to come away with the 67-64 decision.
Graduate student
Bailey Donovan finished with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds, while collecting seven blocks.
Senior
Makaelyn Porter went off for the Eagles in the win, dropping 14 points on 7-12 shooting, with the majority coming down the stretch in the second half.

Sofia Torres-Reyes dished out four assists, while Sasse added eight points and Richard finished with six points and a game-high five assists.

Trinity Montigny's five boards to give Husson a 38-30 advantage on the glass.
The Eagles will now get a brief break before battling Maine Maritime Academy on the road Monday at 5:30 p.m. in North Atlantic Conference action.
