Men's swimming & diving compete on day two of 2023 ECAC Open Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Husson University men's swimming & diving team wrapped up their second day of competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Open Swimming & Diving Championship at the Lejeune Hall on the campus of host United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. 

Husson currently sits in 18th place with six points, one point ahead of Baruch College and a two point-margin over Cabrini College. The United States Naval Academy leads the meet with 497.5 points followed by Columbia University (231) and Princeton University (229), while Bucknell University (211) and Yale University (171.5) round out the top five men's teams.

Graduate student Steven Johnston placed 35th in the morning's 100-yard butterfly prelims with a time of 52.85 for Husson, while freshman Alex Walsh turned in a time of 56.33 in the 100-yard backstroke time trial. Graduate student Joe Vail swam the second fastest 100-yard breaststroke time of 1:03.65 in program history during the 100-yard breaststroke time trial event. Freshman Ryan Emerson also competed in that 100-yard breaststroke time trial event with Vail, swimming a 1:07.18.

The Eagles return to action tomorrow for the final day of the 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference Open Swimming & Diving Championship.
