BANGOR, Maine — Husson University men's basketball is back in the win column with a full team effort 90-51 win against Maine Maritime Academy.
Maine Maritime (5-4, 1-1 NAC) put up a fight against the Eagles (8-1, 3-0 NAC) before Riles Neff was able to pull Husson into the lead by producing an 18-point first half. Once the Eagles secured the lead in the first half they did not relinquish the lead en route to improving to 3-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.
15 Eagles checked into the game in the full-team effort, with four of those players scoring in the double digits. 38 of the team's points were scored by players coming off the bench.
Neff led the offensive with 18 points, while freshman Kyle O'Hare led the team with 11 rebounds.
Senior Jeremy Moronta, freshman Andre McCauley and sophomore Eric Ahlers all scored in the double-digits, posting 16, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
On the other side of the ball senior Jared Balser tallied seven rebounds, while Moronta, graduate student Derek Collin and Ahlers all ripped down six boards. 19 of the Eagle's points on the night came off second-chance opportunities.
The Eagles shot 56.3% from behind the arc, shooting a whooping 71.43% in the second half. The Eagles made 19 of their 21 free throws and went 8-8 from the line in the second half.
The Eagles forced the Mariners to give up the ball 23 times and scored 28 of their points on turnovers. Husson held on to the ball only making 14 turnovers during the game, while Moronta led the team with three steals and four assists in the win.
The Eagles will be back in action when they take on the Beavers of Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Dec. 11 at 5:30 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
