BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's swimming & diving team fell to Norwich University with a final score of 159-122 on Sunday morning inside Webber Pool.
Husson opened the day by winning the 400-yard medley relay, behind a time of 4:30.18 from juniors
Rachel Hand and
Erin Madden, senior
Kayla Payson and freshman
Mia Winslow.
Sophomore
Maggie Poulin placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:38.24 before adding a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a 6:34.02.
The Eagles won the 200-yard freestyle with Payson winning with a time of 2:07.56. Payson later added the 500-yard freestyle to the Husson win column with a time of 5:43.54.Â
Junior
Grace Rocheleau, Winslow and freshman
Mackenzie Gray all finished third, fourth, and fourth in the 50-yard backstroke.Â
Madden won the 50-yard breaststroke for the Eagles with a time of 36.51 and Hand swam a 1:04.38 to clinch the 100-yard butterfly while graduate student
Hannah Soutter earned a fourth place finish with a 1:15.28.
Gray, Rocheleau and junior
Kat Christensen went 3-4-5 in the 50-yard freestyle with respective times of 31.08, 31.66 and 34.93.
Cost (1:08.51) took third and Gray (1:09.50) finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, before Madden doubled down by winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.49.
Winslow claimed a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke after hitting the wall with a 1:29.64.
Christensen swam a 7:24.85 in the 500-yard freestyle to secure a fifth-place finish for the Eagles.
Hand recorded the Eagles' final individual victory of the meet when she raced out to a time of 29.41 in the 50-yard butterfly. Soutter and Cost took fourth and sixth in the event with times of 32.98 and 35.54.
Husson finished the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with Payson, Winslow, Madden and Hand narrowly defeating Norwich's relay team with a time of 1:50.78. The relay team of Gray, Rocheleau, Poulin and Soutter finished fourth with a 2:05.80.
In the diving events, sophomore
Riley Mahoney finished second in both the six-dive one-meter event and the five-dive one-meter optionals with scores of 187.90 and 157.95. Sophomore
Lily Butler (147.45) and freshman
Julia Brown (116.00) finished fourth and fifth in the six-dive one-meter event.
The Eagles will make a return trip to Connecticut on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they travel to Willimantic to face the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University in a 11 a.m. dual meet.
