CASTINE, Maine — The Husson University dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Vermont State University Johnson in the North Atlantic Conference East Division Quarterfinal on Saturday.
Husson (7-16) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Saturday's playoff matchup winning the opening set 25-16 and the second set 25-19 to put itself one set win away from the NAC East Division semifinal on Sunday.
However, VSU Johnson bounced back in the third set taking the frame 25-22 to pull within 2-1 of the Eagles.
The fourth set would also go to the Badgers as they held on to win 25-20 and for a deciding fifth set.
After a back-and-forth fifth set, Johnson managed to take an 8-6 lead at the turn and opened up a 13-7 edge, before Husson pulled back within 13-10. However, Johnson capitalized on the final two points to come away with the 3-2 decision.

Cheyenne Young finished with a game-high 13 kills, adding 14 digs. Junior
Beatrice Tursi finished with a team-high 18 digs and added six service aces, while junior
Alyvia McIntyre tallied 23 assists.
