BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University Eagles Men's Basketball team capped off a perfect weekend against the Thomas College Terriers with a 82-61 win in a highly charged and aggressive game fueled by both school's student sections.
The game opened with a highly competitive back and forth first half with the Terriers (3-16, 1-9 NAC) leading the Husson University Eagles (10-11, 8-2 NAC) 33-32 at the break. Husson began the game with a quick 12-6 run before Thomas was able to battle back. The half was led by junior Jeremy Moronta, who opened the Eagles scoring with an impressive steal, with nine points and four rebounds. Also in the half senior Luke Caruso had six points and junior Scott Lewis ripped down five rebounds.
Husson had a strong start to the second half featuring an 18-point run to create some space. The Eagles were again led by Moronta who scored 19 points in the half totaling 28 points in the game. Moronta also led the team in rebounds with 12 for the game. Freshman Eric Ahlers added five rebounds and two points in the half to end the night with seven rebounds and nine points.
The Eagles will take on the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Tuesday, in Presque Isle, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
