Bernat sets new school record in the three-meter diving event with 212.75 points.
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Husson men's swimming & diving team closed out the 2022-23 dual meet season with a 207-60 victory against Plymouth State University, while falling to Norwich University, 201-96 in a double dual-meet on Saturday morning at the PSU Natatorium.
Graduate student Steven Johnston excelled in each of his individual events, coming home with three first-place finishes and helping guide the 200-yard freestyle relay to a second-place finish. With the split, the Eagles finish the dual meet season with a 9-2 record.
Johnston took home wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.56), 100-yard freestyle (49.89) and 50-yard butterfly (25.06).
Johnston, along with freshman Ryan Emerson, graduate student Joe Vail and freshman Alex Walsh swam a 1:31.87 to come in second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Other second-place finishers included Vail in the 200-yard IM (2:12.51), and Emerson in the 50-yard backstroke (27.04) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.93).
On the diving board, senior Spencer Bernat finished third in the one-meter event with a point total of 224.25 and took home a second-place finish on the three-meter board with a new school record 224.25 points. Sophomore Matt Steeves finished fourth on the one-meter board (195.95) and third on the three-meter board (180.95).
Walsh, Vail, freshman Sam Peiser and freshman Brayden Champlin swam a 3:56.93 to finish in third-place in the 400-yard medley relay.
The Eagles return to the pool on Saturday, February 4 when they look to capture the program's first North Atlantic Conference Championship during the two-day NAC Championship at the Aquatics Facility that is located in the Stephen M. Schneeweiss Athletic Complex on the campus of Cazenovia College. The prelims for day one are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
