Box Score CASTINE-Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team put together a 23-point fourth quarter to upset No. 1 seed Maine Maritime Academy 66-55 in the North Atlantic Conference East Division Championship.
Husson (18-5) trailed Maine Maritime (20-4) 19-12 after the first quarter, but rebounded with a strong second quarter to close out the half on a 15-11 scoring run to pull within 30-27 of MMA.
The second half would be all Eagles as they won a tightly fought third quarter 16-15 to pull within two of the Mariners heading into the deciding fourth quarter.
That's when Husson caught fire from the free throw line late and junior Bailey Donovan took over scoring 12 of her game-high 24 points in the final period in round to a 23-10 run to win the NAC East Division Title.
The Eagles shoot a clutch 21-22 from the line for the game while grabbing 22 offensive rebounds.
Donovan finished with a 24-point, 19-rebound double-double while freshman Sophia McVicar tallied double digits with 10 points.
Senior Megan Peach finished with eight points, nine rebounds and a game-high four assists.
With the win, Husson advances to the NAC Championship on Saturday on the road beginning at 2 p.m. against SUNY Poly.
