CASTINE, Maine – The Husson University volleyball team lost the North Atlantic Conference East Division championship game to Maine Maritime Academy 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in Castine. Although the Eagles (12-11) lost the match, they became the first conference school to take a set off MMA since 2017.
Husson dropped the first set to the Maine Maritime 25-17 but the Eagles came back firing in the second set as they opened on a 5-2 scoring run to take the
early lead and would hang on for the set win 25-20.
The Mariners would recover and win the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-22 to earn the match victory and the NAC East Championship.
Offensively for the Husson, sophomore
Julia Leavitt once again led the attack with a 13-kill, 17-dig double-double. Senior
Cheyenne Young also tallied 13 kills, while sophomore
Alyvia McIntyre dished out 29 assists, and graduate student
Amber Lemay posted 15 digs.
The women's volleyball team has their season come to a close but it is there first winning season since 2017.
