Four seniors score in field hockey senior day victory over UMF

Box Score BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University field hockey team earned an 8-0 win on senior day over the University of Maine at Farmington on Sunday morning at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex. With the win, the team completed a perfect conference regular season in the New England Collegiate Conference with a record of 6-0.

The Eagles (9-5, 6-0 NECC) came out fast and furious as they scored three goals in the opening six minutes of play. Senior Jessica Hart got the scoring started as she put home a shot that earned fellow senior Kayleigh Eckenrode her first collegiate assist. Senior Katie Perkins put home the next two goals for Husson with the latter of the two being assisted by senior Leigha Carrier.

The Beavers (1-12, 0-6 NECC) were able to hold Husson scoreless for the remainder of the first half, but the Eagles got back to their scoring ways in the third quarter. Freshman Maddie Perkins put home her ninth goal of the year on a feed from junior Teagan Blackie. Perkins added an assist to her tally when she assisted on junior Julia Murch's goal later in the period. The Perkins sisters combined for the final goal of the frame for Husson, as Katie put a bow on her first collegiate hat trick on Maddie's second assist.

In the final period, the Eagles' seniors continued the scoring entourage as Maya Joy netted her first collegiate goal and Mallory Fairbanks concluded the scoring as she scored her first goal of the season on a feed from Joy.

Senior Kimmie Goddard earned her sixth shutout of the year and wasn't forced to make a save in the game.

Prior to the start of the game, the Eagles recognized their eight senior team members Katie Perkins, Hart, Adelle Foss, Goddard, Joy, Fairbanks, Carrier, and Eckenrode.

Up next for the field hockey team, it's the NECC playoffs. Husson will find out its postseason time, opponent, and location in an announcement from the NECC sometime today.
