Super sub Maroto finds winner for men's soccer versus MCLA

Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team completes a perfect weekend as they pick up a 1-0 non-conference victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field.

It was an uneventful first half as neither team really challenged either goalkeeper despite a combined seven shots in the half. The Eagles (7-2-2) best method of attack came through crosses as they were finally awarded in the 70th minute. Sophomore Arni Hreidarsson played a perfect ball to the edge of the goal line inside the box for senior Jarod Bolton who was able to perfect place his cross to the box post and sophomore Pablo Maroto was there for a powerful header into the top corner.

MCLA (4-6-1) fought for a tying goal but they were only able to fire a single shot that was blocked as the senior Benjamin Powell and the Eagles' earned the 1-0 shutout.

""It was the same old story today, plenty of chances and not enough goals," said head coach Gavin Penny. "I said it yesterday and I'll say it again, we must be better in front of goal and do more when we find ourselves in dangerous field positions. We had to be patient. We played well enough. But we always felt the goal would come. Credit to Jarod, he always finds ways to make a difference we he enters the game. We have now gone seven games undefeated. Six games at home without defeat and only one goal against in the last 5 games. I am happy with these statistics and looking forward to the tough test on Wednesday".

The men's soccer team will get a couple days rest before returning to Boucher Field for their final game of a five game homestand as Bowdoin comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday.
