Gilliam Breaks 200 Fly School Record in Dual Meet Victory over Gordon

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's swimming & diving team began the new year with a 154-43 victory over Gordon College on Saturday morning in Webber Pool.

THE RUNDOWN:

First-Year Hunter Jackson, senior Steven Johnston, senior Joe Vail and senior Dan Egan won the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:53.21.
Senior Jordan McCoy, first-year Isaias Therio, first-year Nathan Gilliam, sophomore Ben Carusi took second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:01.98.
Johnston won the 200 Free (1:57.98), and the 100 Back (59.37).
Therio placed second in the 200 Free (2:07.42), and the 100 Free (55.44) and swam exhibition in the 100 IM (1:06.46).
Vail won the 50 Back (29.24), and the 100 Breast (1:09.77) and swam exhibition in the 100 IM (1:01.89).
McCoy finished second in the 50 Back (32.34) and swam exhibition in the 50 Fly (29.65).
Egan won the 50 Breast (31.06) and took second in the 100 Breast (1:11.66).
Gilliam won the 200 Fly with a new school record time of 2:14.63 and the 100 Free (55.04)
Jackson was second in the 200 Fly (2:28.80), and the 500 Free (5:46.09).
Senior Andrew Cote finished third in the 200 Fly (2:33.75) and swam exhibition in the 50 Fly (27.27) and the 100 IM (1:08.39).
Carusi won the 50 Free (26.09) and placed third in the 100 Free (59.50) and swam exhibition in the 50 Fly (28.17).
Sophomore Nathan Ober placed second in the 50 Free (30.75), and dove exhibition in the six-dive round with a total of 57.55 points.
Junior Spencer Bernat won the five-dive one-meter optionals with 141.60 points and the six-dive round with a total of 206.75 points.
First-Year Matt Steeves dove exhibition in the six-dive round with a total of 128.10 points.
Jackson, Egan, Gilliam, and Cote won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:38.78.
The group of Carusi, Johnston, Bernat and Ober placed second in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:43.86.

The Eagles return to pool on Saturday, Januray 15th when they trek down I-95 to Standish, Maine to take on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
