Box Score GORHAM, Maine — Senior Megan Peach and junior Bailey Donovan dominated the boards and scoring in Husson University women's basketball's 55-42 win over the University of Southern Maine in non-conference action on Wednesday.
Husson (9-4) took a 12-7 advantage after the opening quarter before opening up a 26-17 lead at halftime in Wednesday's meeting.
The Eagles came out looking to increase their advantage in the third period with a 15-9 third quarter run to control a 41-26 edge.
Southern Maine (4-9) managed to mount a comeback early in the fourth quarter, but Husson pulled away down the stretch increasing its advantage back to double-digits to pick up the 55-42 decision.
Donovan tallied her 10th double-double of the season and seventh 20-point outing recording 20 points and 17 rebounds, while Peach finished with 13 rebounds and 10 points to go along with three assists and three blocks.
Senior Vanessa Duarte also finished in double digits with 12 points, adding seven rebounds and sophomore Trinity Montigny dished out a game-high four assists.
The Eagles limited USM to just seven and nine points in the first and third quarters, respectively, while dominating on the glass with 57 rebounds, including six offensive boards from Peach.
Husson returns to action on Friday when it returns to North Atlantic Conference play against Thomas College on the road at 7:30 p.m.
