Box Score BANGOR, Maine — Senior DJ Bussey got the Husson University men's basketball offense rolling on Friday night with 20 points in the opening half in route to his team's 88-78 North Atlantic Conference victory over University of Maine at Farmington.
Husson (5-7, 2-1 NAC) shot 47.2 percent and 46.7 percent from behind the 3-point arc with Bussey draining an impressive 5-6 from 3-point range to help give the Eagles a 49-38 advantage at the half.
UMF (6-3, 2-0) mounted a comeback in the early part of the second half, pulling within 65-63 of Husson with 11:37 remaining, but a basket from graduate student Justin Thompson put the Eagles back up 67-63.
Thompson finished the second half with six points and nine boards, combining for a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double, while senior Justice Kendall kept the offense going late into Friday's matchup with 12 of his 14 points in the half.
Additionally, senior Brett Cunningham added 14 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Jared Balser tallied eight points and five rebounds off the bench for the Eagles.
Husson finished the evening with just nine turnovers as a team and tallied a 44-36 rebound margin and dished out 15 assists.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they complete the end of a home-and-home with UMF beginning at 3 p.m. on the road.
