Box Score BANGOR, Maine — A strong fourth quarter surge helped Husson University women's basketball cruise past SUNY Poly 80-60 in North Atlantic Conference action on Friday.
Husson (5-4, 3-0 NAC) got off to a slow start to begin action on Friday, playing the Wildcats to a 15-14 lead following the opening quarter.
However, it was all Eagles in the second quarter as they rolled to a 19-7 second quarter advantage to control a 34-21 lead heading into the halftime break.
SUNY Poly (9-4, 4-1 NAC) started the second half on a strong note, pulling to withing six of Husson before a late third quarter run saw the Eagles lead increase back to double-digits at 51-40.
The Eagles continued their third quarter momentum into the final quarter, earning a 29-20 advantage to close out the game and pick up the victory.
Junior Bailey Donovan led the way with a game-high 30 points, 17 coming down the stretch in the second half to help secure the win.
Senior Cassie Urso matched a career-high 15 points, while fellow senior Megan Peach notched eight points, 10 rebounds and matched a career-high with seven assists.
Sophomore Trinity Montigny tallied eight points and senior Vanessa Duarte poured in nine points after missing the entire first half.
Husson finished the evening shooting 51.9 percent from the floor for the game and tallied a 22-11 assist advantage.
The Eagles return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Cazenovia College at 2 p.m. for a NAC clash.
