Box Score UTICA, N.Y. – First-year performer Natalie Aviolla scored three goals in the first 24 minutes as the Husson University women's soccer team rolled to a 6-1 North Atlantic Conference victory over SUNY Poly at Wildcat Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles, who are now unbeaten in the last four matches, are now 4-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. The Wildcats fell to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NAC.
Aviolla, who leads the Eagles with seven goals, opened the scoring with two goals in the first eight minutes and added a third in the 25th minute as the Eagles led, 3-0, at the break.
At 50:13, Charlotte Messer scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Megan Buddenmeyer to put the Eagles ahead by 4-0.
In the second half, the Wildcats trimmed their deficit to 4-1 on a goal by Ashley Kiuber, her first of the season.
The Eagles would put the game to bed late on with goals from Lindsey Russell and Jaley Martin as the Eagles would go on to win, 6-1. Russell's goal was her first collegiate goal.
Husson dominated play by outshooting the Wildcats, 25-7. The Eagles owned a 17-2 edge in shots at halftime.
Shie Smith and Hannah Kenney split the game at goalkeeper as each played a half. Kenney made one save as she shut out the Wildcats in the first half. Smith allowed the only goal of the match and also had a save.
Women's soccer closes out the road trip tomoorow (Sunday, September 26th) as they take on a different Wildcat team in Cazenovia College. Kickoff is at 11:00 a.m.
