Tonight's match started evenly through the opening stages, but the Eagles found themselves in front in the 9th minute. Jordi Cabau passed it down the right side and whipped it across the penalty spot and Alejandro Mora on a bounce hammered it into the top right corner for the Eagles lead.
In the 32nd minute, Issac Bennett delivered a free-kick from the midway line and a header by Chase Gwynn got over the Eagles defense and Michael Hahn put the ball home in the empty net as the squads were even at the break.
The Eagles regained the lead in the 52nd minute as Marcos Chanlatte curled the corner kick from the left side and into the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.
The Fighting Scouts scored twice in a four minute span to come away with the 3-2 victory.
After the game head coach Gavin Penny has this to say; "it was a tough loss for us today. I was pleased with our work rate but credit to Gordon, they changed the game on us to their benefit and could not get it back. They exploited our weaknesses and capitalized on it. It's unfortunate because I think we worked really hard and for a large part of the first half we were in control. I love the passion and commitment of this group of lads. We are continuously learning from our experiences and today was another game we can learn from. We have a big weekend coming up where we can hopefully get back to winning ways."
Conference play resumes on the weekend when the Eagles travel to Wildcat Field to take on SUNY Poly with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th.
