CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Husson University Eagles (0-1) lost to nationally ranked #16 MIT Engineers (3-1) by the final score of 10-1 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Jack Barry Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles opened up the scoring one minute and 28 seconds into the game when Adelle Foss shot a backhand shot pass MIT's goalkeeper Julianna Strother. Husson's lead lasted until the 8th minute when Paige Forester collected the ball up after a scramble in front of the Eagle cage and shot it into a wide open net for her third goal of the season.

The game remained tied until the 21st minute when Forester tallied her second of the game following a penalty corner which gave MIT a 2-1 advantage at halftime.

The Engineers extended their lead in the second half as Lydia Patterson, Eva Oppenheim, and Liberty Ladd each knocked in a pair goals, while Forester earned third goal of game and Erica Radler closed out the scoring for MIT with a goal of her own.  

THE KEEPERS:

Kimmie Goddard registered 18 saves for the Eagles. Strother started the game for the Engineers, playing the first 45:00 in between the posts. Kiely Smiga-McManus replaced Strother in net to cover the final 15:00 in the MIT victory, while registering one save.

TEAM STATS:

MIT outshot Husson, 40-2, with 28-2 shots on goal. The Engineers took 15 penalty corners to the Eagles five penalty corners.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

This match-up marked the first time the two schools have met on the field hockey field since the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
