Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Senior D.J. Bussey became the 51st Husson men's basketball player to score 1,000 points in his career, as the Eagles (5-0) got a win over Thomas, 96-60, at Newman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
IN THE ACTION: Husson jumped out to a 7-0 lead just a minute and a half into the game with buckets from Justice Kendall, Isaac Varney, and a three-pointer from DJ Bussey, forcing Thomas to take a timeout. Midway through the first half, with a 12-6 leg up, Husson pushed their lead to twelve as Justin Thompson netted twelve of the next sixteen points for Green and Gold to put them up 28-14 with eight minutes left in the half. The Terriers fought back to pull within seven with 4:30 to go, but Husson finished the half on a 13-2 run, with seven points from Brett Cunningham, to take a 45-28 lead into halftime.
The Eagles poured it on in the second half, as Bussey got hot on his way to hitting a career milestone. He scored the Eagles first five points of the second half, and had 18 points in the first twelve minutes of the period. Bussey's three pointer with 7:59 remaining gave him 24 on the game and 1,001 for his career. The game was stopped and the Eagles' bench emptied to congratulate him on the floor.
Bussey's final points of the afternoon put the Eagles up 77-43, as they cruised to victory number five on the season.

Bussey led all scorers with 24 points, 18 of which came in the second half. He finished the game shooting 8-for-17 from the field, including 6-for-10 from behind the arc.

Justin Thompson had a season high 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting, to go along with a game high 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Demitris Webster had 17 points to lead the Terriers.
