Men's Basketball Opens the Season on a High Note with Back-to-Back Victories over UMPI

Box Score

BANGOR, Maine - Nearly matching their score from last night in back-to-back games against the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (0-2), the Husson University Eagles (2-0) swept the weekend with an 87-56 triumph.

IN THE ACTION:

Opening up with their lone lead of the game, UMPI's Akhe McMichael confidently sunk a three to hold a two-minute advantage before a Justice Kendall jumper pushed the Eagles back ahead. A 9-0 run over the following three minutes helped the Eagles set the tone as they gained an 11-3 lead with 14:34 left in the half. A brief scoring lull for both teams midway through the opening half helped the Owls find their groove as they fought back to within a couple baskets, 23-27, thanks to a pair of field goals from Danyjoel Harris. Four made shots from the charity stripe for Cam Wood helped the Eagles once again extend their lead to 37-23 as the whistle blew to end the half.

Husson held on to their double digit edge to close out the game despite both teams exploding on some advantageous runs. Howard Turner found his sweet spot, draining three consecutive three's to help secure the 87-56 victory late in the second half.
