Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Husson men's basketball team took on a tough non-conference opponent in the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers on Saturday afternoon at Newman Gym as the Eagles fell 88-69. With the victory, WPI continued their charge into the national top 25 poll with an 8-1 record while the Eagles dropped to 4-4.
The Engineers opened up the contest on a 19-2 run in the first seven minute thanks to five points each from Kahleb Downing and John Lowther. The Eagles would respond by outscoring WPI, 29-26, for the remaining duration of the first half as they trailed 47-29 at the break.
In the second half, WPI outscored Husson 41-40 to come away with the 19 point victory.
Five different players scored double digits for the Engineers as Lowther and Colin McNamara led the squad with 16 points. For the Eagles, graduate student Justin Thompson and sophomore Jeremy Moronta each had 11.
The Eagles have one more home game before the California road trip as they will host Bates College in a non-conference affair on Monday, December 13th with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
