WALTHAM, Mass. - The Husson University women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon at Red Auerbach Arena as they fell to Brandeis University, 63-55, in the championship game of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament. The Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season while the Judges are 3-0. 

The Eagles had the lead in the first two minutes of the contest as senior Vanessa Duarte scored four points. The Judges though took over as they outscored the Eagles, 12-5, to end the first quarter with a 17-10 lead. A slow scoring second quarter saw the Judges extend their lead 12 at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Judges, 39-35, in the second half as the Eagles attempted many times to make a comeback but the Judges would keep answering the call en route to the victory. 

Allen and Donovan were named to the Brandeis Tip-Off All-Tournament Team. 

HUSSON STATS

• Seniors Sydney Allen and Duarte each had a game-high 17 points.

• Junior Bailey Donovan recorded her second double-double in as many days with 10 points and 17 rebounds. 

• The Eagles struggled with offense as they shot 27% (20-of-72) from the field and from behind the arc (12-44). 

BRANDEIS STATS 

• Caitlin Gresko, Kerry Tanke, and Emma Reavis each led the team with ten points as they combined for 22 rebounds. 

• Camila Casanueva, Francesca Marchese, and Mollie Obar each provided secondary scoring with eight points. 

• The Judges were 33.9% (19-56) from the field and 33.3% (8-of-24) from behind the arc.
