CASTINE, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team fell to the 2019 North Atlantic Conference champions, Maine Maritime Academy, in a thrilling 3-2 game at Ritchie Field on Saturday afternoon. With the win for Maine Maritime they have earned the right to host the NAC East Divisional playoffs next weekend while the Eagles will be the two seed in the four-team tournament. 

The NAC Golden Boot winner Natalie Aviolla began the scoring for the Eagles in the third minute with a free kick for her 17th goal of the season. The Mariners would find a response in the 32nd minute via a corner kick to send the game tied at the half. 

In the second half, Maine Maritime scored in the 50th minute. In the 79th minute, Megan Buddemeyer requested for a substitution and was replaced by Mackenzie Lambert and the substitute scored in less than a minute to tie the game at two.

Maine Maritime would find a winner in the 83rd minute from MacKenzie Carter as the Mariners held on for the 3-2 victory. 

Hannah Kenney made her return to the net and made a save for the Eagles in the losing effort while Bess MacArthur made five saves in the winning effort for MMA.

It is on to playoffs for the Eagles as they will take on the University of Maine at Farmington in a 2v3 matchup on Saturday, October 30th at Ritchie Field on the campus of Maine Maritime. Kickoff for the NAC Quarterfinal will be determined on Monday, October 25th.
