Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The 10th-ranked Bowdoin Polar Bears defeated the Husson University field hockey team by the final score of, 5-0, on Thursday night at the Winkin Sports Complex in non-conference action. Bowdoin picked up their 11th win of the season while the Eagles dropped to 5-6.
The Polar Bears started the scoring with two goals in the first quarter. They started it off with a penalty corner taken by Beth Koeller when it was sent to the top left of the circle and Georgie Coetzer hammered a shot into the back of the net. With under a minute left in the first half, Bowdoin extended the lead. Caroline Higgins was able to collect her rebound and make it 2-0.
There was no scoring in the second as the Eagles earned their first penalty corner of the game with ten seconds left in the first half but couldn't prevail despite getting five shots off as Bowdoin led 2-0 at the break.
The Polar Bears added three goals in the second half en route to the victory.
Kimmie Goddard with 14 saves for the Eagles while Maddie Ferrucci and Julia Arsenault combined for an eight save shutout.
It's back to New England Collegiate Conference action on the weekend when the Eagles will travel to the conference leaders of Thomas College on Saturday, October 23rd. Game at Bernatchez Field is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
