Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team earned a 5-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene to close out their regular season home schedule at Boucher Field on Wednesday night. With the win, the Eagles earned their 10th victory of the season while the Lions suffered their 10th loss of the season.
The Eagles had no trouble starting the scoring as they did so in the 6th minute. Charlotte Messer inside the box found Natalie Aviolla at the penalty spot and she beat the keeper for her first of the evening. In the 20th minute, the lead was doubled as Miranda Lewis delivered a perfect over the top ball and Aviolla was in behind the defense and beat the keeper on a 1v1 situation for her second of the game.
In the second half, Aviolla earned her fourth hat trick of the season as she received the ball inside the box from Mackenzie Lambert and Aviolla deked the keeper and tapped the ball home into the empty net. Her third goal of the game was also her 16th of the season as she extended her lead atop the North Atlantic Conference golden boot lead to four.
The Eagles put the game to bed minutes later with two goals in a four minute span. Charlotte Messer added her 10th goal of the season as she scored on her own rebound then Sydney Drew added her fifth goal of the season as the Eagles closed out their final non-conference game of the season with a 5-0 victory.
Shie Smith earned her fifth victory of the season without making a save as the Eagles' defense held the Lions to only three shots.
The final game of the regular season lies ahead for the Eagles as they will travel to Ritchie Field in Castine to take on Maine Maritime Academy in a North Atlantic Conference fixture with kickoff scheduled for noon on Saturday, October 23rd.
