Victoria Friend Scores Two Points as Eagles Win at UMF, 2-0

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine - Victoria Friend with two points while Kimmie Goodard made three saves as the Husson University field hockey team shut out the University of Maine at Farmington by the final score of 2-0 in New England Collegiate Conference action at Prescott Field. With the victory, the Eagles move to 4-1 in conference play while the Beavers slide to 3-3 in the conference.

All the scoring happened in the first half as it was the Victoria Friend show as she scored in the first half via penalty corners. In the first quarter, the penalty corner was taken by Summer Staples and she passed the ball to Katie Perkins and she laid it off to Friend at the top of the circle and her slap shot was tipped by Adelle Foss and it found the back of the net. In the second quarter, there was a scramble in front of the goal off the penalty corner and Friend poked the loose ball into the back of the net.

In the second half, the Beavers outshot the Eagles, 3-0, and all three shots were stopped by Goddard as the Eagles defense shut the door down for the 2-0 victory.

The team will return home and have a day off before returning to action on Thursday, October 21st when they host the #10 Bowdoin College for a non-conference match at the Winkin Sports Complex. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
