Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson men's soccer team scored the most goals in a game since 2016 when they defeated Northern Vermont University-Johnson by the final of 11-0 at Boucher Field on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles remain third in the North Atlantic Conference despite an unbeaten record of 5-0-1 and 9-2-3 while the Badgers sit at the bottom of the table with an 0-7 record and 1-10 overall.
The first five goals of the match were scored by Alejandro Mora and Jordi Cabau as Mora had a hat trick in 37 minutes while Cabau scored a brace in ten minutes as he continues to lead the conference golden boot race with 14 goals on the season. Meanwhile, Pablo Maroto and Domingo Infante had two assists in the half.
In the second half, it was the Kenny Penney and Jahmal Williams show as Penney scored a hat trick while Williams had a hat trick of assists. Those three goals were the first three collegiate goals for the Hampden native. Highlights of the second half also include two goals from Joao Passoni and two assists from Gavon Fox. Tyler Proulx added to the score line with his first collegiate goal.
Alex Rechsteiner earned his first collegiate victory in net after making three saves as the Eagles defense held the Badgers to only four shots.
Head Coach Gavin Penny had this to say after the game: "I was happy with the way we played today. We got through with the 3 points, a shutout, and no injuries which is a plus heading into Wednesday's game. This weekend really shows the depth of our squad, it was a total team effort. It was nice to be able to rest the majority of the players who played yesterday and still maintain a high level of play. We are looking forward to Wednesday nights showdown at Thomas."
Next up is a trip to Thomas College as the top two teams in the NAC-East division will square off at Smith Field on Wednesday, October 13th with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
