Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Husson University baseball (3-6) fell to Rochester Institute of Technology (3-5) at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex on Thursday morning, despite a late rally attempt in the bottom of the eighth.
IN THE ACTION:
Husson starter Ethan Stoddard cruised through the first three innings unscathed, but began to run into some trouble in the fourth. Chris Reilly opened the inning with a double to left field for RIT. After Kyle Terzini reached first, Ian Libby hit a single through the right side, scoring Reilly. A Joey Mylott sacrifice fly brought in Terzini, before a combined effort from three Eagles in the infield produced a double play to escape the inning down 2-0.
The Tigers continued to chip away at the Eagles in the fifth and sixth innings to cycle through two additional pitchers from the Eagle bullpen and enter into the seventh inning with a comfortable 9-0 lead.
Husson finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth as Evan Holzworth and Ethan Daigneault got on base. With one out, Kobe Rogerson stepped up to the plate and rocked a hard shot back to the fence in right center to drive in both of his teammates as he rounded the bases to third. A wild pitch and speed helped Rogerson score Husson's third run of the inning. Brandon Smith and Jonathan Lendrum both doubled to the same spot as Rogerson to add on one more run before the third out, but a scoreless ninth brought the final score to 13-4 with a loss for Husson.
