Eagles Topple Terriers on the Road, 70-61

WATERVILLE, Maine – Led by a double-double effort from Justin Thompson, the Husson University men's basketball team (7-12, 5-4 NAC) triumphed over the Thomas College Terriers (12-9, 6-4 NAC) on the road, 70-61. 

IN THE ACTION:

Thomas went up 17-7 over the first seven minutes of the contest, but Husson fought back to tie the game 22-22 with 7:05 to go. Husson quickly gained the lead and extended it to a 38-32 advantage by the end of the first half. Thompson had already recorded double digits on the scoreboard, leading all-scorers with 11 points in 13 minutes. 

Justice Kendall opened the second half with five-straight points to extend the advantage to double digits, before six unanswered points brought the Terriers back within a few buckets. Thomas remained within a few points from Husson over the next ten minutes until a Scott Lewis jumper pushed the Eagles on an 8-0 run to help hold onto a steady lead and capture the 70-61 victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Thompson finished the night with the game-high of 17 points and 11 boards.
  • Three starters for the Terriers pitched in double-digits on the scoreboard between Jordan Goodson with 15 and both Demetris Webster and Tyler Nixon added on ten apiece.
  • Lewis shot an impressive 7-for-10 from the field to help accumulate 16 points off the bench to add onto his five rebounds and one block. 
  • The Eagles held the advantage in rebounds, 45-33, and saw 24 points scored off the bench to the Terriers' 14.
