CANTON, N.Y. - A 20-point second half run by the Husson University women's basketball team (10-7, 7-0 NAC) helped shut down the SUNY Canton Roos (1-18, 1-7 NAC) on Saturday afternoon to secure a weekend sweep at the Roos' house with the 62-38 victory.

IN THE ACTION:

The Roos kept things close early trailing just 16-13 after the opening quarter of play. Joie Culkin made a three to start the second quarter as Canton knotted the game at 16 apiece. The Roos tied the event for the second time at 19 before the Eagle broke away on a 16-3 run to close the half with a 35-22 lead. Bailey Donovan contributed 12 points to the Eagle advantage, while Culkin paced the Roos with nine first-half points.

Heading into the third quarter, SUNY Canton scored five points in the opening 29 seconds, but the Eagles' defense held the Roos scoreless throughout the rest of the quarter as Husson rolled on a 20-point unanswered run into the final frame to hold a 55-27 advantage with eight minutes left to play. The Roos tacked on 11 points in the final minutes of the afternoon while Husson secured the 62-38 win to remain undefeated in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sydney Allen paced Husson for the second-straight game with 18 points as she hit three treys and added eight boards. Donovan chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds, while Joan Overman supplied eight points and four steals.

• Watkins led Canton with 16 points, while Culkin added 12 points and eight rebounds.

• Husson held a 42-32 advantage in rebounds and the upper hand in points in the paint (30-14), points off turnovers (22-8), bench points (17-4) and second chance points (11-0).
