CANTON, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Sydney Allen set a new program record for three-pointers made in a game as the Husson women's basketball team (9-7, 6-0 NAC) extended its winning streak to five they defeated the SUNY Canton Roos (1-17, 1-6 NAC) on Friday Night. Allen, who finished the night 8-11 (72.7%) from downtown, set a new program record for three-pointers made in a game (8).

IN THE ACTION:

Allen scored her first of eight three-pointers to spur the Eagles 8-0 run to start the opening quarter. Autumn Watkins would put the home team on the board with a jump-shot 7:29 remaining in the first quarter. The Roos would come within five points of the visitors as Joie Culkin drove to the basket for a lay-up before the Eagles offense exploded to finish the first quarter on a 17-0 run. The Eagles continued to dominate in their defensive end, holding the Roos to just six second quarter points as Nicole Tapparo recorded two steals in the frame, as the green and gold went into halftime with a 41-13 advantage. 

Picking up right where she left off, Allen drained her first of five three-pointers in the 3rd quarter to spark the Eagles' offense. Sami Ireland contributed back-to-back defensive blocks to deny Jasmine Dickson under the basket for the Eagles to hold on to their 51-19 lead. Despite a fourth quarter rally from the Roos, who outscored the visitors 19-10, the Eagles defense proved to be too much to overcome as they soared to a 74-45 victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Allen scored a game-high 26 points, while adding six rebounds and five assists.  

• Joan Overman contributed eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the victory.

• Bailey Donovan added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles.

• Autumn Watkins recorded 18 points, five rebounds and three steals in the losing effort for the Roos.
