BANGOR, Maine - The University of New England women's soccer team (4-2-2) topped Husson University (2-4-0), in a non-conference one-goal victory, 1-0, at John P. Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.

IN THE ACTION:

After a frustrating first half, both teams were left empty-handed, 0-0, despite the Nor'easters notching six clean looks on goal by the end of 45 minutes. Husson goaltender Shie Smith had an extra set of legs on the goal line for a corner kick in the 42nd minute, as defender Lizzie White denied a header shot by UNE's Katie Beaudoin to help preserve the stalemate heading into the half.

The Nor'easter's broke the silence in the 56th minute as Beaudoin curved the ball into the bottom left corner past the Husson goalie. 

Despite a final surge of energy by the Eagles in the remaining minutes of regulation, UNE maintained possession throughout the midfield to hold onto the close win.

TEAM STATS:

The Nor'easters pinned the Eagles today with the advantage in shots (27-2) and shots on goal (13-1).

THE KEEPERS:

After a shutout first half without touching the ball, Jenna Pannone was replaced by Sydney Gillingham who stopped the only shot on goal by Husson to secure the win for the Nor'easters. Smith finished the game with eleven stops for the Eagles.
