Men's Swim & Dive Picks Up First Win of Season at Double-Dual Meet Hosted by Monks

STANDISH, Maine - The Husson University men's swimming & diving team captured their first victory of the season in a win over the host Saint Joseph's College (Maine) 136-68, while dropping the second matchup of the double-dual meet to Maine Maritime Academy (137-113) on Friday night.

THE RUNDOWN:

Dan Egan was victorious in the 50 yard breastroke (32.12), while finishing fourth in the 200 yard breastroke (2:51.05).
Steven Johnston captured victories in the 50 yard freestyle (22.43) and the 100 yard freestyle (50.37), before placing second in the 500 yard freestyle (5:22.06). Johnston's 500 free time was fast enough to shave 10 seconds off the previously set program record back in 1973.
Tom Cote claimed a win in the 50 yard butterfly (26.17), and finished second in the 50 yard backstroke (32.01) and third in the 100 yard freestyle (54.78).
Joe Vail picked up second place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle (2:00.40), 200 yard backstroke (2:17.50) and set a new school record in the 200 yard IM (2:16.53). Vail swam fast enough to cut down over 30 seconds from the previous record of 2:17.27 which held strong over the past four years.
Adam Colter finished fourth in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:32.55, fifth in the 500 yard freestyle (6:02.44) and sixth in the 50 yard backstroke (36.79).
Andrew Cote contributed a fourth place finish in both the 200 yard freestyle (2:08.06) and the 50 yard freestyle (25.49).
Jordan McCoy swam to a second place finish in the 50 yard backstroke (32.01), before picking up a sixth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke (2:47.58).
Spencer Bernat placed third in the 50 yard freestyle (25.41).
The quartet of Egan, Vail, Cote and Johnston combined for a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:36.68), while Colter, Bernat, McCoy and Cote combined to finish third in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:44.03).
McCoy, Egan, Cote and Bernat finished second in the 200 yard medley (1:57.52).
