BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's volleyball team (4-15-0) took the Colby College Mules (4-10-0) to four sets on Wednesday night in Newman Gymnasium before falling, 3-1. 

Colby College 3, Husson University 1 (25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-12)

The Husson Eagles were hard at work during a mid-week non-conference match at home against Colby. The Eagles matched nearly point for point in the opening serves of the first three sets. After building momentum in the second set for a near comeback, Husson paced the third set maintaining a consistent advantage until the end to extend the match to a fourth set. 

Maria Minuesa led the Mules' offense as she contributed 19 assists towards 39 team kills and five aces. Nicole Petherbridge added 10 kills while Samantha Schultz, Natalie Simonton, and Elizabeth Middlebrook each chipped in seven kills apiece. Middlebrook also supplied a match-high 15 digs to lead the defense for the Mules.

Husson's senior captain Hanna Hembrow delivered another impressive performance, setting up 21 of 25 total assists for the Eagles while competing in her 100th career match. Fellow senior captain Mary Grace Power was set up by Hembrow 11 times to lead her team in kills as well as a team-high of 12 digs. Hembrow and first-year Cat Torres pitched in 11 digs each. Clearing the net, Karimah Land shut down four total attack attempts by the Mules.

The Eagles will be traveling to Cambridge, Mass. this weekend to play a pair of non-conference matches against Mount Holyoke College and MIT on Saturday. The first match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
