Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - Securing her first shutout in her first collegiate start, rookie goaltender Jenna Dietenhofer-Diamond helped the Husson women's soccer team (4-4-0, 3-1-0 NAC) sneak past the SUNY Canton Roos (3-8-1, 2-3-1 NAC) with a 1-0 triumph on Saturday afternoon in conference action.
IN THE ACTION:
With minimal looks on net for both teams, the ball was worked around the midfield for the majority of play after Husson tallied a goal right from the start, barely nine minutes into the game. Husson's Bri Saulter rocked a driven shot at Victoria Hanna in net for the Roos. Slipping out of Hanna's hands, Arianna McKinnon was ready for the rebound, tapping the loose ball over the goal line to help the Eagles take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Despite a stronger offensive effort in the second half by SUNY Canton, recording five shots to Husson's two, the Eagles held onto their victory as Dietenhofer-Diamond made five saves throughout the 90 minutes.
UP NEXT!
The Eagles have a full weekend planned in New York with a second match set for 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, October 13th, at SUNY Delhi for another 90 minutes of NAC action.
