PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - The Husson Eagles (5-9-1, 4-2-1 NAC) downed the University of Maine-Presque Isle (2-13, 0-7 NAC) by the final score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action at Family Park Field.

THE SCOOP:

Jumping out to a commanding 2-0 lead within the first seven minutes of the afternoon, Bri Saulter tucked away Husson's opening goal on the first shot of the match, after receiving the ball from Mackenzie St. Pierre barely three minutes in. A shot and a save later, within a four-minute span, Hannah Smith watched her first career goal clear the goal line.

Before thirty minutes had passed on the pitch, Joan Overman and Sydney Morton helped double the score for the Eagles as they advanced into the second half with a comfortable 4-0 lead. St. Pierre and Alli Carey both picked up assists on the goals.

Cutting the deficit by one goal, the Owls struck back with their first and only shot on goal of the entire match, sneaking past Sami Ireland in net, scored by Jordi Legassie in the 49th minute.

Adding on a pair to secure the win and close out the match, Shannon Dowd knocked in two within a span of four minutes as the Eagles captured the 6-1 conference victory to close out the regular season on a high note with the first conference matchup at UMPI since 2000.

BETWEEN THE POSTS:

Ireland recorded the win without making a single save, while her counterpart Alexis Levesque gathered up 17 saves by the end of 90 minutes.  

TEAM STATS:

The Eagles outshot the Owls, 34-3 while also holding the advantage on the attack with eight corner kicks to UMPI's three.
