Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. - The Husson baseball team opened up their 90th season with a walk-off win and one loss against Marymount University (Va.) on Sunday morning. The Eagles won the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 3-2 and lost the second 10-2 on day one of their spring trip.

Game 1: Husson 3, Marymount (Va.) 2

Marymount (5-6) scored two runs in the top of 4th to break the scoreless tie. Roy Coates singled home Luke Tyree for the first run of the game. Stephen Berczek continued the scoring for the Saints by ripping a triple to fence. Coates came around to score on the hit.

Husson (1-1) did not answer back until the 6th inning. Alex Chapman smacked a triple of his own to score Mike Wong. In the next at bat, Ryan Rebar grounded into a fielder's choice. Chapman advanced from third to tie the game at 2-2.

Being the home team, the Eagles had the final at bat of the game. Logan Rogerson found himself on second base after a Cam Archer sacrifice bunt. Conor Maguire was walked in order to set up the double play. With two runners on, Mike Wong slapped a ground ball that looked like it would end Husson's scoring threat. Wong hustled down the line to keep the inning alive. With two outs and two on, Alex Chapman stepped into the batter's box knowing he could end the game. A single into the outfield drove home Rogerson, and the Eagles walked-off with an opening day win.

Husson was led by Ben Walls who went seven innings picking up the win. He allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Alex Chapman fueled the Eagles offense with two hits and two RBI. Logan Rogerson chipped in one hit and scored the game winning run.

It looked like the Eagles had picked up where they left off. Tyler Young drove a double in the gap that scored Christian Corneil from first base. Cam Archer advanced Young on a ground ball to first. Next up was Conor Macquire. He reached on an error by the catcher that scored Young from third. Husson led 2-0 after the top of the 2nd inning.

Marymount (Va.) scored all the runs they needed in the bottom of the 2nd on route to a 10-2 victory. Six hits, two error,s and a wild pitch aided the Saints in the frame. They added three more runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to extend their lead to 10-2.
