Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Husson University women's basketball (2-2, 2-0) defeated Maine Maritime (3-2, 1-1), in the Fifth Annual Husson Sports Hall of Fame Game on Saturday afternoon.
FIRST GLANCE:
Husson junior guard Kenzie Worcester was the only player to net 20+ points in the matchup against the Mariners to help lift the Eagles to a victory in a game that featured 11 ties and six lead changes.
THE REST OF THE STORY:
The Eagles held a 29-27 lead going into the locker room after back-and-forth scoring in the first half of the game. Husson regained the lead with a pair of free throws by sophomore Logan Huckins to account for the two-point margin. Throughout the first half, there were 8 tie scores where neither team held a lead greater than five points.
A fast break layup by Kenzie Worcester in the third gave the Eagles a four point gain over their opponent but it was quickly overturned when the Mariners scored five points to gain a 32-31 advantage.
With just 3:06 remaining, Maine Maritime gained the biggest lead of the game (41-35) but the Eagles answered back with a three-pointer by senior Jordan Butler and free throws by sophomore Sami Ireland. Worcester closed out the third quarter with a jump shot to give the Eagles a one-point deficit (43-42).
In the final minutes of the game, freshman Emma Alley added two points to tie it up 47-47 - the 10th tie score of the afternoon. The Eagles jumped out to a five point advantage with quick points from Alley and Ireland with 1:08 to play.
A stifling Husson defensive effort held the Mariners to a 23.5% (8-34) shooting percentage while the Eagles had a 35.8% field goal percentage.
The largest margin of score throughout the game was an 8 point lead which didn't come until the final seconds of the game when Husson went ahead, 58-50, with free throws by Alley.

Worcester went 6-6 on the foul line, accumulating a game-high 21 points while grabbing four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Alley netted 10 points, going 3-3 on field goals, 1-1 on 3-pointers and 3-3 on free throws.

Husson edged the Mariners steals (10-5) and assists (10-8) while Maine Maritime had the advantage in rebounds (54-31).
