Winter Haven, Fla. – Husson University baseball team drop their final RussMatt Central Florida Invitational game by a score of 5-1 to Rhode Island College on Friday morning at Chain O' Lakes Park.

Rhode Island College (4-4) got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first when designated hitter TJ Lynch doubled to left center bring centerfielder Brad Douglas home with the first run.

The Anchorman added run in the third on a Lynch sacrifice fly and extended their to lead three on a shortstop Shaun Vigeant double down the right field line in the fifth inning before the Eagles scored their lone run of the game on a RBI single by second baseman Ryan Rebar.

Rhode Island College added two more runs in the top of eighth making the game 5-1.

For the Eagles, centerfielder Conor Maguire was 3-for-4 while left fielder Andrew Curran went 2-for-5 with a ran. Shortstop Mike Wong added a single in the 1st, third baseman Sam Huston single in the 2nd and right fielder Julien Boone single in the 3rd accounted for the other three Eagle hits in the setback. Starting pitcher Ryan Allender took the lost after allowing four hits, three earned runs with three walks and fanned one over 4.0 innings while relief pitcher Ben Holmes pitched four of innings in relief yielding just four hits and two unearned runs while fanning three.

For the Anchorman, designated hitter Erick O'Connell was 2-for-2 with a run; Lynch went 1-for-3 with a two-bagger and two RBI while Vigeant, Douglas, right fielder Edward Apice, catcher Tyler Rains and second baseman Sam Alkins accounted for the other five Anchorman hits in the victory. Starting pitcher Myles Levy picked up the complete game win after allowing one unearned run on nine hits while walking one and fanning three for his first win of the season.

The Eagles return to the diamond on March 20 when the host Bates College for their Home opener at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex. First Pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
