Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Raheem Anderson scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Eagles to a 87-78 victory over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Wednesday night inside Newman Gym.
Husson (18-6, 14-3 NAC) wins its second-straight game, while Thomas (12-12, 8-9 NAC) drop their second-straight to the Eagles and falls to 94-9 in the all-time series.
A jump shot by Levi Barnes tied the game at six with with 17:36 remaining in the first half, but the Eagles went on a 29-9 run to build a 34-15 lead courtesy of 11 points from Zach Curran and nine from Trevon Butler, while Mitch Worcester and Darryl Wood chipped in with eight points each and entered the intermission with the 51-28 advantage.
Thomas went on a 13-4 run to open up the second half to close the gap to 55-41 with 15:44 remaining. A three by Eli Itkin at 14:51, sparked a 12-7 run by the Eagles as Husson extend their to lead back to 19 with 10:57 left in the game, but the Terriers responded with a run of their own over the next eight minutes and cut the Eagles lead to four with 2:29 remaining. Anderson and Butler helped the Eagles pull away in the closing minutes for the 87-78 victory.
Anderson chipped in with six rebounds and five assists while scoring 19 of his 23 points in the second half. Butler finished the game with 13 points and six rebounds, while Zach Curran added 13 points to the Eagles offense. Tyler Norris contributed seven boards and two steals, while Wood record 14 points and seven boards off the bench.
Levi Barnes led the Terriers with 22 points and three rebounds while Tyheem Simon added 19 points and Adam Carlsen contributed 11 points off the bench. Carlos Gonzalez led Thomas with seven rebounds, while adding eight points and a steal.
Husson closes out the 2015-16 regular season on Saturday, February 20 when they travel to UMaine-Farmington for a 3:00 p.m. conference game while Thomas host Maine Maritime on Saturday as well for a 3:00 p.m. conference game.
