LEWISTON, Maine --  Husson and Bates field hockey teams had to wait nine days to complete their game that was suspended due to lightning on Sept. 9. The Bobcats defeated the Eagles by a score of 4-1 after the game was resumed.

With Bates (1-2) assuming its 4-0 lead with 10:52 left in the first period, Husson (1-4) scored the only goal of the final 46 minutes to narrow the final deficit to three goals. With 15:08 left in the second half, Hanna Jordan found the back of the cage on a penalty corner play, assisted by Olivia Plaisted.

Four different players scored for Bates in the opening 24 minutes on Sept. 9. Adah Lindquist  struck first on an assist by Claire Markonic  in the sixth minute of the game, on the first shot of the game. 

forward Jessie Moriarty got into the act with a goal in the 12th minute. Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff saved Moriarty's shot on a penalty corner, but Moriarty was seized upon the rebound and knocked it in for her first collegiate tally and a 2-0 Bates lead.

Shannon Beaton made it 3-0 in the 21st minute, driving up the middle and taking advantage of a sagging defense, ripping a shot into the lower left corner after entering the circle. 

Just before play was suspended, Markonic was awarded a penalty stroke and converted it for a 4-0 Bates lead. 

The Bobcats had outshot the Eagles by an 8-2 margin to the point of suspension, and finished with an 18-6 advantage. Husson drew six penalty corners to Bates' four.

Bates goalie Cristina Vega finished with one save, while Kaitlin Dolloff finished with six saves.

Husson next plays Sept. 26 at Colby-Sawyer and Bates will host Thomas College in another non-conference contest Wednesday at 7pm.
